Liat drops fares to mark 45 years Trinidad Guardian As part of its celebration of 45 years in business, regional airline Liat, introduced their new four level airfares structure on Monday. David Stuart, Director marketing, said, "This 45th year has been designated as the year of the customer" and these new fares is Liat's way of giving back to their customers. The new fare structure he said would provide more flexibility and increased value to customers. The budget fare, he said that was previously valid for four days is now extended for 14 days and will be available year round. The lowest level called "Gadabout" will be 30 per cent lower than the budget fare, but will only be available periodically throughout the year. The first of these "Gadabout" fares are now available until March 21. Trinidadians can now travel round trip to Grenada from as low as US$75, Barbados $95, St Vincent $93 and Antigua $216. Unlike other discount fares where one would have to book in advance, passengers can get the "Gadabout" rate up to one hour before departure. As Stuart describes it "Buy now, fly now." He said the airline is able to offer such a service because Liat has made available 30,000 seats to accommodate the anticipated passenger load. The next level is the Value 30-day fare which is also available all year and would allow travellers the flexibility of changing travel dates. Stuart said these new fares were the first of two phases of fare reduction. The second phase will be implemented in April to coincide with the launch of Liat's on-line booking facility. Stuart said it is hoped that these new fares will encourage inter-Caribbean travel.
