Horizon Air Announces New Nonstop Jet Service from San Diego and San Francisco to Boise SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 4, 2002--Horizon Air said today the airline will offer new nonstop jet service from San Diego to Boise and from San Francisco to Boise starting April 1. Horizon will offer two daily nonstops to San Francisco and one daily nonstop to San Diego, all operated with the airline's new 70-seat CRJ-700 regional jets. The announcement was made at the Boise Air Terminal today during inaugural ceremonies for Horizon's new twice-daily nonstop service between Sacramento and Boise, which started Sunday, Feb. 3. Patrick Zachwieja, Horizon's vice president of marketing and planning, said the new routes will build on the strength of the carrier's other nonstop service from California to Idaho. "We're improving air service to Idaho by expanding the number of California cities with nonstop flights to Boise," Zachwieja said. Horizon's current California service from Boise includes nonstop flights to Los Angeles, Sacramento and San Jose. Those California cities and a number of others are also served by Horizon's sister company Alaska Airlines with flights to the Pacific Northwest and Mexico. Horizon is the only carrier offering nonstop service from Boise to Los Angeles, Sacramento and San Jose, and it will be the only airline offering nonstop flights from Boise to San Diego when that service starts April 1. The only airline currently offering nonstop service from San Francisco to Boise curtailed its available seats on this route by 30 percent last fall and will cut seats another 38 percent on Feb. 15. Horizon will help compensate for this shortfall by adding 140 seats every business day from San Francisco.
