A SriLankan Airlines jet made an emergency landing yesterday after a British passenger cut his throat with a piece of broken mirror in the lavatory, reports said. The plane, flying from London to Sri Lanka, landed at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport after crew members found the man in the lavatory with his neck bleeding, Turkey's Anatolia news agency reported. A doctor on the plane stopped the bleeding and stitched the wound with the help of crew members. The report said the man was trying to kill himself. Doctors at a hospital near the airport said he was not seriously injured. The man was not identified. Passengers were flown on to Sri Lanka aboard the same plane after the stopover.
