An update from Rich Delaney: 20 Jan 2002 District Lodge 141-M announced Saturday night that negotiations with United Airlines have stopped. Both sides will now await the publication of the Presidential Emergency Board report that is being presented to the President today. Talks continued all through the day yesterday and finally ended when it became obvious to District 141-M that United was not willing or able to reach a compromise agreement. The personal involvement of John Creighton proved to be completely ineffective. District 141-M is now concentrating their efforts on preparing for a work stoppage due to begin on February 20, 2002. They have notified all affiliated local lodges to immediately activate their Strike Committees. Members of District 141, especially those serving as officers in Lodges that have 141-M members, should help in every way we can. Members of the District 141 Solidarity Committee are excellent resources that should be used by Lodges due to their experience organizing the 2 Solidarity Day rallies of last year. The Solidarity Committees have already dealt with the necessary preparation work such as securing legal permits and dealing with airport authorities. That type of work must begin immediately and be in order before the first picket line is formed. _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx
