A woman flight attendant was killed and twelve other people were injured when a Boeing 737 jet, belonging to Indonesia's Garuda Airlines, crashed into a river. The aircraft, with 54 people on board, is reported to have come down in the Bengawan Solo river and is floating on the surface. It was on a domestic flight between Ampenan and Yogyakarta. An Indonesian television station quoted a passenger as saying that bad weather and heavy turbulence forced the plane to make an emergency landing. It was the second plane crash in the region this week, involving a Boeing 737. Seven passengers were injured when a 737 crash landed immediately after taking off from the airport in Batam near Singapore on Monday.
