Faulty engine forces BWIA plane to land Trinidad Express A BWIA aircraft was forced into an emergency landing in Barbados Friday after one of its engines failed. The Daily Express understands that the Miami-bound MD83 took off without problems at about 8 a.m. from Grantley Adams International Airport with an almost full passenger load. The airplane had previously been to Guyana and a few minutes after take-off one of the engines shut down. The pilots declared an emergency situation, turned around and landed without incident back at Grantley Adams. The engine failure resulted in a four-hour delay as another aircraft had to be sent from Trinidad. The aircraft is now being repaired in Barbados.
