I can't help you with number 2 but this one is easy.  Mesaba is alive and
well and flying out of several bases.  They have 36 Avro RJ85s configured for
(I believe) 68 seats, and a fleet of Saab 340s (a mix of models) that is
reportedly getting larger as they replace Express Airlines I on all turboprop
routes (any help here).  They are doing well as far as I know.
