Incoming flights received the go-ahead to land starting at about 10 a.m. when visibility improved, but arrivals were running more than an hour behind schedule, airport officials said. However, flights are still as much as 90 minutes behind schedule. A dense fog advisory was lifted at 10 a.m. for Sonoma, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Alameda and Contra Costa counties. Weather officials say that even though the advisory has expired, local pockets of dense fog might continue around the area through early afternoon. Motorists should be prepared for visibility changes, use low-beam headlights and allow extra time to reach their destinations. Officials at Oakland International Airport and Mineta San Jose International Airport said they are not experiencing major delays this morning due to fog. =20 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright 2002 AP
