The following feature request was reported against the Debian packaging for Autoconf as bug #776559. I'm forwarding it to the autoconf mailing list in case anyone wants to comment or implement this feature request. I'd appreciate it if followups would retain the CC to 776559@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, because that allows the Debian bug tracker to automatically track the conversation. Thanks, Ben. ----- Forwarded message from Paul Wise <pabs@xxxxxxxxxx> ----- Date: Thu, 29 Jan 2015 17:43:19 +0800 From: Paul Wise <pabs@xxxxxxxxxx> To: Debian Bug Tracking System <submit@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Bug#776559: autoupdate: add option that reports needed updates to configure.ac X-Mailer: Evolution 3.12.9-1+b1 Package: autoconf Severity: wishlist File: /usr/bin/autoupdate Usertags: check-all-the-things I would like to have an option for autoupdate that doesn't modify configure.ac but instead reports the needed changes to stdout. This is needed to non-destructively report that configure.ac needs updating. In addition it should use a temporary directory for autom4te.cache/ so that the existing one if any doesn't get modified. The context is that I'm working on a tool to check all of the files in a source package and I would like to check the autotools parts too. https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/check-all-the-things.git -- bye, pabs https://wiki.debian.org/PaulWise ----- End forwarded message ----- _______________________________________________ Autoconf mailing list Autoconf@xxxxxxx https://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/autoconf
