Well, yes in the GNOME project at least ;)
We had quite a lot of problems in the latest unstable release because this.

We are also discussing the creation of a new macro in this bug [1], so
we do not have to patch every GNOME module only for this (thanks Ralf
for the corrections in the previous code)

Of course any feedback is more then welcome
