Since autoconf appears to be the best collection of shell portability, you may be interested to know that as of July 7, 2005, cygwin's official /bin/sh is bash 3.x, rather than an old fork of the non-POSIX ash 0.2. Cygwin distributions still include /bin/ash, but I doubt many users will override the default /bin/sh == bash to replace it with ash.
