This code contains the following:

   ifelse($3, ,
     AC_DEFINE_UNQUOTED($1, "$ac_define_dir"),
     AC_DEFINE_UNQUOTED($1, "$ac_define_dir", $3))

First, the `$3' argument is underquoted.  It is a description, so it could
easily contain a comma.  Second, I see no need for the `ifelse'.

So I propose the patch attached to this mail.
BTW: what does it mean that the macro is in the legacy section of the CVS?
