I'm learning autotools... With autoconf 2.58, in section 3.4 of the manual there's an example: :1 mleisner@santa 01:40:26; cat configure.ac AC_DEFINE(This, is [an [example]]) :1 mleisner@santa 01:40:27; autoconf -t 'AC_DEFINE:@: $@ *: $* $: $%' It seems to put autom4te in an infinite loop... 6127 mleisner 1 10 0 6168K 5680K cpu/1 3:44 49.10% autom4te and outputs: autom4te: invalid escape: $: This was on sparc/solaris. On linux/intel with autoconf 2.57 I get quick termination (same error). With 2.13, the -t option isn't there... On redhat 8, 2.58 also infinite loops, 2.53 has the quick termination. marty mleisner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Don't confuse education with schooling. Milton Friedman to Yogi Berra
