Hi all,
Is this just a matter of updating a URL in a .repo file
or some other issue(s)?
Other issues.
Any info appreciated.
Here's an example update attempt:
[smckinney@mb1 yum.repos.d]$ sudo yum update
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Setting up Update Process
Setting up repositories
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/6/i386/os/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] HTTP Error 404:
This url basically spells out your issue. Fedora Core 6 has been EOL
for quite some time, and it appears to no longer be carried on the
fedora mirrors. You can either update to the latest version of fedora
(10 or 11, I'm not sure), or if you want to stick with software of
similar version with a longer lifespan, you might want to check out
CentOS 5.
Thank you Jim,
Updating OS will need to happen.
I wouldn't count on it being flawless - but since RHEL/CentOS 5 is
largely based on Fedora Core 6, it may be possible to yum update from
Fedora Core 6 to CentOS 5.
It's probably better to just do a clean install though.
