As you can see from the quote above, I had some "small" problems with my system after I allowed PackageKit to apply a set of updates. The only way out the helpful people on Fedora could suggest was a reinstall of Fed 9 (which seems to have worked). My questions to you: a) would it be possible to make a "Yum Live CD" to use in cases where yum/packagekit & co have disappeared? b) is it possible to use the original install CD to get yum back? c) how is it possible for a user to build a dependency list to be able to feed rpm when all else has failed???
