Thanks for the tip. --replacefiles was the key. Digging into man-pages it seems I can simplify it by using "rpm -Uvh --force"
(is there a command line for rpm reinstall?) It would be nice if I can use yum reinstall for that. Or (even better) something that can do "I want to install this package, install/reinstall/upgrade/downgrade if you have to".downgrade ain't gonna happen.
I believe it would be a good feature to have. Nevertheless, I understand your decision.
