createrepo versus yum-arch: which is better ?

Hello,

- I saw in many places that createrepo is better than
yum-arch (in some places, it says that yum-arch is deprecated).

- I had created successfully a Yum server on my local LAN on FC7.

I had created this Yum serve using "yum-arch".

While running "yum-arch" I got:

THIS PROGRAM IS DEPRECATED!
You should be generating xml metadata instead.
Please see http://linux.duke.edu/metadata

I googled a bit and I am bewildered :
on FC7, there is an rpm for ""yum-arch". (	yum-arch-2.2.2-2.fc7.noarch.rpm)

However, when looking for "createrepo" with rpmfind.net, I see that there
is a version for feodra core 5 (but not 6 or 7).

So - what is behind this ? which is better to use?

I must add that "yum-arch" worked for me and the yum-server works OK

Regards,
Ian
