1. please don't top post, it makes things out of order
2. look at yum-utils and the programs:
    - reposync
    - repotrack
    or
    - yumdownloader
3. there's also mrepo from dag wieers that does this sort of thing, too.

Mrepo doesn't work with rhel5 (up2date is missing) or I don't know.

With reposync I only get "No Repositories Available to Set Up".
I don't know how yum gets the channels from rhn or what I have to configure.
    

that probably has something to do w/how the yum-rhn-plugin is setup.

you'll have to check if reposync is setting up the plugins or not.

  
Reposync don't init the plugins, i will change it so it does and the other utils to, else they wont work on RHEL5
