IOError: urlopen error -2 Name.. but yumex works

The resolution to my problem proved to be un-setting the environment variable http_proxy, e.g., issue the following in a bash shell before using yum:
 export http_proxy=

I wrote earlier
I am having the same problem as the previous poster on this subject.
Debug.txt was created following instructions in replies to that post and
is attached. In my case this problem surfaced after an update to the
current stable version of yum. Both yum and yumex worked as expected
prior to the upgrade.
