[Yum] Dual Core performance

Yesterday Fedora Core6 was released, and I was lucky to get my download
completed and installed. Naturally my first install was yumex.

While it is executing, my cpu fan started to spin up to speed. I
quickly turned on the CPU monitor and noted that for extended periods
of time, one cpu was steady at 2 to 3 percent busy, while the other was
at 100%. Occasionally the reverse was true.

Is there a way to create multiple tasks so that load balancing could be
done? If what I saw was decompressing a large file, then I know my
answer, it is "No".

Can yum multi-thread so that another download can take place while
local processing is occurring?
