Hi David, Thanks for the hint of updateting yum first. I am using fedora core 4. Compiling a new yum version worked, but yum couln'd start afterwards. So I installed yum 2.6.0 and the new urlgrabber from the FC5 rpms. didn't work. ok, my fault not latest version. I installed yum 2.6.1 from the fc5 updates (as you have recommended) and TARAA!! it works! great! so my yum update will now install 3 packages, update 184 packages and remove 7 packages. Nice :-) All in total 414 Megs. Enjoy WM06 today (1.5 hours left) Silvio -----Original Message----- From: yum-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:yum-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of David Timms Sent: Friday, June 09, 2006 3:52 PM To: Yellowdog Updater, Modified Subject: Re: [heur] [Yum] yum and http proxy -- error message Schneider, Silvio wrote: > If someone is using fedora: is there any otherway to download the > update rpms? Yes. Try to get yum/urlgrabber updated first (which distribution/version are you on ?), perhaps from: http or ftp to http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/updates/5/i386/ rpm -Uvh yum-2.6.1-0.fc5.noarch.rpm rpm -Uvh python-urlgrabber-2.9.8-2 DaveT. _______________________________________________ Yum mailing list Yum@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx https://lists.dulug.duke.edu/mailman/listinfo/yum
