Well, yum's just doing what it's supposed to. You are trying to install a package that was packaged for mysql 4.x. There could be a lot of reason's why that package will or won't work with the MySQL you have installed. But since the package php-mysql is insisting that it get a certain version of mysql, yum is just doing what it's told.
