[Yum] Problem with yum & locale

I am using SuSE 10.0 and installed yum from the dvd, I am trying to use
kyum front end of yum.  The version of yum that is on my dvd is:
yum-2.4.0-3
kyum-0.7.5-2

When I try to 'list available', I get the following message.

What can I do to cure this problem? Any ideas?
