[Yum] Yum issues on FC3, 64-bit (multilib?) box

Bob,

Thanks! Uninstalling libgcj did the trick for 99% of my problems; now the
only outstanding issue is perl:

perl.x86_64 3:5.8.5-12.FC3 updates-released

Trying to update per yields:

When I do 'yum remove perl', I get:

--> Processing Dependency: perl(vars) for package: automake17
--> Processing Dependency: perl(Fcntl) for package: perl-libwww-perl
--> Processing Dependency: perl(vars) for package: perl-XML-LibXML-Common
--> Processing Dependency: perl(Cwd) for package: perl-RPM2
--> Processing Dependency: perl >= 0:5.000 for package: kdelibs

And so on and so on seemingly forever. Since perl is so integral to my box,
I'm a little spooked about removing it and then re-installing it; I
certainly do not want to uninstall all of the packages that depend on perl.

Advice?

And, just for my knowledge, are these issues a problem with yum or a problem
with FC3/multilib?

Thanks,

Steve
