On FC3, look at /etc/sysconfig/kernel. Before that (which I assume you are, given the kernel version you're using), I don't think it gets set to default automatically. > 2) I like the idea of creating/installing my own 2.4.30 RPM. Some more detail is probably necessary than is on-topic for this list. Start by familiarizing yourself with the basics of building RPMs in general -- <http://www.rpm.org/> has some good basic information. Then, simply make a kernel.spec file modified to add the patches and different .config files you want, and rebuild. > 3) How do I tell yum that I want to move from RH 7.2 to RH 7.3 (or something > else)? A 'yum update' will update all packages for this version, right? > How does a 'yum upgrade' know to move to a new version? It's simply based on what repository you're pointing at. If you point yum at a 7.3 repository, it'll try to upgrade to that. But I'm not sure I'd bother to upgrade to 7.3 at this point, since it's _also_ obsolete.... -- Matthew Miller mattdm@xxxxxxxxxx <http://www.mattdm.org/> Boston University Linux ------> <http://linux.bu.edu/>
