[Yum] Catch 22 hell with plesk - can anyone advise here please?

I'm trying to install the latest plesk (psa) using yum. I know on a
clean machine it works, but theres been a botched previous install,
m,anually using rpms, before the yum repos was available. Basically
I'm in the situation where I can't install it because yum (& rpm)
thinks its already in and ok, but its not, so I try to remove it but
the remove job has a dependancy on a db entry which will not be
satisfied (and possibly others even if I got past that one):

[root@xxx Populate]# yum remove psa

The database "psa" truly does not exist. Yet:
[root@xxx Populate]# rpm -q psa
psa-7.5.2-fc2.build75050128.11

And

[root@xxx Populate]# yum install psa

Nothing to do

I don't mind literally ripping all rpm refs to it just in order to get
it installed - if I only knew how!!!

I did create an empty psa db and tried again. The script then whined
about missing table entries, I suspect following that path would take
a stupid amount of time compared to asking on this list!!!

Thanks.
