[Yum] installing/upgrading an os over itself

bruce,
 You've been talking about this set of problems for the last couple of
days. In that time you could have reinstalled via the normal fedora
installer and reconfigured the whole system. Is there some reason you
are hell bound for leather to do this via yum?
