The update contains the rhel3 update 4. Deleted /var/lib/rpm/__db* & rpm --rebuilddb Now yum ran as expeted.;) (..) Completing update for XFree86-font-utils - 275/275 (..) Transaction(s) Complete After that rpm was broken again, using the above mentioned method made it working again. Strange, IIRC had those problems sometimes with RH 7.x, but had thought those had been resolved already. So I didn't bothered to check. Thx a bunch for your help! Michael Heiming
