I have tried this again on a new directory. Indeed, the var/lib/rpm directory is created and populated, but yum when executing creates files __db.00{1,2,3} and Packages in the --installroot directory, and appears to update those files and not the corresponding ones in var/lib/rpm. I suspect this behavior comes from the __init__ method of class Rpm_Ts_Work in rpmUtil.py, but I don't have much understanding of the python rpm libraries. -Andy On Sep 19, 2004, at 11:18 PM, seth vidal wrote: > On Sun, 2004-09-19 at 23:14 -0700, Andrew Schwerin wrote: >> My installroot conundrum is with yum Version 2.0.7 from the Fedora >> Core >> 2 RPM yum-2.0.7-1.1. > > hmm > > I do: > > mkdir /xtmp/foo > yum --installroot=/xtmp/foo install basesystem > > and I get a: > /xtmp/foo/var/lib/rpm > > created. > > this is on fc2 with yum 2.0.7 > > can you try it again on a new dir? > > thanks > -sv > > > _______________________________________________ > Yum mailing list > Yum@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > https://lists.dulug.duke.edu/mailman/listinfo/yum
