As I am upgrading my home system with yum from FC2 to FC3, yum hangs repeatedly while downloading the packages. As we speak it has been hanging with glibc-common-2.3.3-74.i38 69% |================= | 9.5 MB 00:28 ETA for more than an hour. The attached strace output shows 21724 recv(13, "\230\372w\2jE\324e\23\336\6\262\304\1\232\353\232\203\255"..., 8192, 0) = 1400 21724 recv(13, When I send an iterrupt to the yum process (#21724), then all continues fine after an error message like ftp://fedora.csi.hu/pub/fedora/linux/core/3/i386/os/Fedora/RPMS/gtk2-2.4.13-9.i386.rpm: [Errno 4] Socket Error: (4, Interrupted system call) Trying other mirror. (this was the message when the download was hanging all night on gtk2). Now, I am willing to leave my upgrade hang until somebody tells me how to debug this without restarting the upgrade (though I could do that too [remove the downloaded rpms?] if absolutely necessary). I already have some strace outputs from an attached strace if needed. Thx, Mate -- --- Mate Wierdl | Dept. of Math.
