[Yum] how does one run yum in "non-caching" mode?

i don't think so.  i've verified the URLs in my yum.conf file, i've 
*been* to that site to verify the existence of the headers/header.info
at that location.

i'm using a totally stripped down yum.conf file to try to create a minimal
example of these errors.  i had a much larger yum.conf file earlier, which
generated dozens of the same errors.  there's no way i can believe several
dozen entries in the same config file will generate failover errors for
every single URL in that file.

here's an idea -- email me offline a sample yum.conf file i can test
this on.  that should at least narrow this down.
