Interesting, I had something similar here. I'd "just" ^C until yum stopped and then try again later -- thinking that it was a busy repository. (That ^C may not have been a good idea after all.<s>) IAC, I've since set up local mirrors for [base] and [updates]. Then, I found an intermittently wet connection on the side of my building. That probably was the real download problem. When I have time (??) I'll set up a test box with an on/off switch of some sort between it and my repositories.
