James -

I upgraded fc1 kernel to 2.6.0 (from redhat) on my home machine. Aside from my cisco vpn client not working I didn't experience any major problems. I ended up rolling back because I needed the cisco VPN client to work. If you want pointers on how to proceed check out http://www.fedoranews.org/. There is a good article showing how to upgrade to 2.6.
