[Yum] bad yum repo hanging yum client?

Well, I hate to say it, but I think that's probably true.  The python
http code (httplib) gets more love than ftplib.  So in general, yes,
http is a bit more stable and reliable.  Also, it's a bit harder for
us to test ftp stuff, which makes problems harder to track down.
