Alas, it doesn't seem to be that simple. rpm 4.1.1 requires popt-1.7.1 RH8 comes with popt-1.7 popt-1.7 and popt-1.7.1 conflict :-( I guess I'm stuck with yum 1.0.3 (and anonymous ftp). Still, even at 1.0.3, it seems like yum will make my life a lot easier! Regards, Simon
