Hi. I sent this comment to this list, since the Yum HOWTO said that all comments and suggestions should go to the yum mailing list. The Yum HOWTO Section 1.5 contains the following: "However, as is made clear on the yum site, yum is a better solution in many ways than apt or, for that matter, Current or up2date. I believe that the designers are working fairly aggressively to make sure it stays that way." I find this slightly misleading. The thing tried to be made clear on the yum site is that yum is a better solution in many ways than apt _for maintaining rpm-based distributions_. That is, yum should be used instead of apt-rpm.
