[Yum] Upgrade Redhat 8.0 to 9 with Yum?

I've done it on at least two machines.

I know it's been done on more.

from 8.0 to 9 isn't that hard

install yum 1.0.1 on 8.0
make sure you have LOTS of free disk space in /var or wherever you point
your yum cache location

point it at the 9 repos
run yum upgrade
watch it churn for awhile.

it should just work.
it can get tricky when you've installed LOTS of third party rpms.

once you're done with the upgrade reboot and upgrade yum to 1.97+
