Hi, Zitat von Louis Bouchard <louis.bouchard@xxxxxx>:
I feel that requiring 256M for crashkernel is a bit large, but I may be wrong. What also puzzles me is the difference b/w SLES10 & SLES11.
SLES10 doesn't use initramfs/initrd to save the dump. Instead, it boots a "full" system with / on disk. One difference I see here regarding to memory consumption is the /tmp directory: On SLES10, it's on the disk, on SLES11, it's in the memory. I don't know if crash creates some temporary files, but it may be worth a check export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/root/lib:/root/usr/lib root/bin/strace -o /root/root/strace.out crash ...
