But I'm not the one writing patches :-) One thing to also consider is that we'll be the ones stuck with maintaining them once they are upstream. So I strongly suggest that only the new approach is implemented unless there are good reasons do support 6.2 too which should be properly justified or with a commitment to more upstream contributions to offset it.
