The compatibility promise of libvirt can in this case go only as far as qemu is going to allow us. Obviously qemu dropping that option would not be nice unless libvirt has a contingency plan, but once it's gone we can't do much more. Libvirt needs to adapt as well so that we do our job of shielding users from inconsistencies of configuration. Peter Disclaimer: I did not think how to approach this in libvirt at this point.
