Eventually I'd like to stop version-controlling such generated outputs.
They can only cause trouble.  However, if some people (with enough
motivation or loud enough voices) want those outputs to be available
for convenient checkout, web access, etc., we can set up something that
will automatically put them into a different place (maybe another repo)
just for autogenerated outputs.
