I don't see that this buys us much over just doing

  PKG_CHECK_MODULES(LIBVIRT, libvirt >= 0.2.1)
  AC_SUBST(LIBVIRT_CFLAGS)
  AC_SUBST(LIBVIRT_LIBS)

which already works...
