Ok, so to be clear - aaccording to truss is only opening the dirs, and *not* opening any '.xml' files. That would mean the problem is in the db loader code. Presumably 'osinfo-query os' doesn't report any OS ? Does it work if you make install to the "normal" location and unset OSINFO_SYSTEM_DIR ?
