What happens if you retry the connection from the console?  Does it then
go through?

Unfortunately, it did not seem to help.  It should also be noted that I
did not notice any extended delay when applying nicdelay=50 and
linksleep=50.  I played around various combinations of each option and
was unable to get any new results.

Any other ideas?  I do appreciate your help!
