This syntax is wrong; you should be seeing errors from bash. Try this:
if [ $DRIVE = "/dev/sdb" ]; then
{ /sbin/sfdisk ... ;
/sbin/sfdisk ... ;
}
fi
The whitespace and semicolons are required for a group command using {}.
