I am trying to create an install boot cdrom incorporating a ks file.
The instructions in the RH Installation Guide, for making an
Installation Boot cdrom, detail copying the isolinux / directory into a
temporary directory.
I cannot see the isolinux directory within the mounted ES 2.1 disk #1.

If you mean Advanced Server 2.1, it is based on RH 7.3, and did not use isolinux. Sounds like you're looking at the wrong documentation set.

AS 2.1 used syslinux and created a floppy image for booting, in the dosutils/autoboot/cdboot.img file.
