I have a vendor procedure that I must use to install a software package on an HP xw8000, dual Xeon 3.2GHz, DVD+R, nvidia FX1100, 73Gb 15k rpm SCSI. Boot order was changed to cdrom first, per instructions. I first installed RH9 without the ks.cfg file by mistake. Then I was told the RH9 automatic install wouldn't use the 2nd processor (among other things) without running the kickstart program. I then inserted the cdrom with the kickstart file and rebooted. At the boot prompt, the instructions were to type "expert linux ks=cdrom:/ks.cfg" (without the "", of course). Everything goes ok, answer "no" to driver disks, country "us", then asked for media hold the packages and removed the boot cd with kickstart file and inserted Red Hat Installation CD #1, select the Local CDROM as the package source. Then I get an error stating this isn't a Red Hat installation CD, which of course it is and it has been media tested. This is the same disk #1 that I already did an install without kickstart, so I know it's ok. FWIW, I tried the instruction without the "expert" and got the same result. Benjamin C.
