Primarily, (re)write the kickstart file and prepare the hardware. e.g.
- run fdisk
- write out some "part" lines programatically
- select packages based on type of host

I've half-written a system to use the hardware drivers and NFS support
from kickstart to get the Windows 2000 installation files and customise
the "unattend" config - Windows' equivalent of the kickstart file.

I'd be curious to know of any other uses for %pre that people have
found.
