Re: Adding network driver to kickstart

I recently downloaded the linux driver from broadcom.com. It had the source and the rpm files for the driver. It also had a disk image with the network driver.

do a search for bcm5700-6.2.17

As for adding the driver into the initrd, do a search on google and use the broadcom's disk image as an example. I was able to modify Redhat's bootable CD image adding the broadcom driver. I'm still looking for my documentation.

Hi All,
I am using Redhat 8.0 with a custom ks.cfg file to load many servers. The new servers I have use a new (different) Ethernet card (Broadcom 5700). The standard RedHat 8 doesn't support this card out of the box. I was wondering if there is documentation on adding that module (bcm5700.o) as well as updating the files (pcitable?) in the initrd.img and recreating it so it will find the card. Any help would be great, thanks Glenn MacGregor

You might find it by searching on HP/Compaq's website. I got a nice bootnet.eep floppy image file from them for RH 7.3 which had the Broadcom and the Intel GB drivers incorporated into it. It sure is a lot easier than trying to make your own.
