There's the official redhat customization guide: http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-9-Manual/custom-guide/ The archive of this list will answer most common kickstart questions: https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/kickstart-list Package selection is a matter of adding groups like "@ Web Server", individual packages ("nc"), or excluding unwanted packages ("-cups"). Various options (e.g. "--resolvedeps") prevent anaconda crashing out with dependency problems. Otherwise you'll have to more specific about the problems you're having with kickstart.
